Overview:An Energy Instructor will be responsible for the effective training of the Energy Technology, Industrial Maintenance, and Wind Power curriculum in the classroom and laboratory setting.Effective presentation skills are vital in this role, as well as the ability to ensure standards and goals are met in each timeframe. Therefore, planning, and critical thinking skills are both essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will also act with our students in mind and establish and maintain effective relationships with students to gain their trust and respect.Responsibilities:Conducting classroom and shop training utilizing proper instructional techniques, practices and following approved curriculumUtilize equipment and training aids in daily lessonsOrder required supplies and toolsReport all damaged or missing instructional equipmentEnsure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean and orderlyStore all unused training aids and supplies in approved areasMaintain student attendance and grade rostersPrepare class lessons and test in a timely mannerDesign training aids and mock-ups in area of instructor expertiseAdminister tests and make-up tests per MIAT procedures manualConduct make-up classes as scheduledEnsure that students follow all established policies, procedures, and safety practicesEnsure that a professional training environment is always maintained in the classroom and shop areasOther duties as assignedQualifications:RequirementsMust meet ACCSC standards for instructors, achieve and maintain required technical certifications and state specific licensing requirements as a condition of employmentEducation / ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent3 years practical work experience (excludes teaching).Teaching experience a plusSkillsAbility to instruct students of various ages and diverse backgroundsAble to work productively and communicate effectively with students and new employeesStrong oral and written communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsMust be able to deal responsibly with confidential informationGood working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientationMust be initiative-takingMust be able to work alone or with a teamFamiliar with climb and rescue gear and how to manipulate the safety featuresSteam / boiler operations, gas & coal fired turbines, pumps & compression technology and materials processing experienceAbilitiesMust be able to instruct two consecutive courses per workday; number of hours will vary based on campus location and program (applies to campuses with ADT II curriculum)Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods of time during the workdayMust be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for short periods of time during the workdayMust be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all the workdayMust be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.Must be able to climb a vertical ladder (20 to 30 feet high) and work hands free while suspended and deploying safety gear during the workday.Work EnvironmentMajority of time spent in education environmentAppropriate safety measures must be followedExposure to chemicals that are standard to the industryWork may be completed while suspended at heights of 20 to 30 feet.This position is Onsite
