**About Transportation Services Department**
Transportation Services Department (TSD) provides all
transportation related services across the company, including
vehicle specification development, vehicle acquisitions, fleet
engineering, vehicle maintenance, aircraft support services, crane
support services, rentals and heavy haul services. Transportation
Services' Fleet Operations and Maintenance manages and operates 43
garages within SCEs 50,000-square-mile service territory,
maintaining close to 6,500 company vehicles and pieces of
equipment.
**A day in the life Get ready to think big, work smart and shine
bright!**
+ This position will serve as a Crane Operator 1 within
Transportation Services (TSD) Vehicle Maintenance.
+ The Crane Operator will operate all types and classes of cranes,
trucks, and related equipment, in conjunction with crews performing
construction, maintenance, or repair work, and similar
projects.
+ Considers lifting leverages, capacities and limitations of
equipment and determines equipment use in relation to varying
conditions. Greases, oils, cleans and makes minor repairs or
adjustments to equipment.
+ Inspects equipment and maintains inspection records. Trains and
instructs other equipment operators as required.
+ Work skillfully and safely when operating, maintaining and
repairing equipment and when working with others.
+ Understand and follow instructions given in written, oral, and
diagrammatic form.
+ Understand and follow hand signals; use hand and power tools;
perform heavy physical tasks; work in high places such as when
servicing cranes; work in a dusty and noisy environment; and must
maintain all necessary certificates and licenses required by local,
state and federal regulations.
**Qualifications**
**The essential**
+ Must be able to read and understand crane load charts, multiple
crane sizes
+ Must have the ability to move rigging from preferred to
qualifications section, complete understanding of rigging methods
associated with transporting structural materials and
equipment.
+ Must have knowledge regarding crane mounted electronic
devices.
+ Must understand ratings of wind speed and manned basket
loads.
+ Must possess and maintains all necessary certificates and
licenses required by local, State and Federal regulations, which
includes a current California Certificate to Operate Mobile
hydraulic cranes with fixed and rotating cabs.
+ Must have the ability to operate, maintain and make minor repairs
to all types and classes of cranes (ranging from 35 Ton to 300
Ton), truck and related equipment.
**The preferred**
+ Practical application of mechanical theory, methods, procedures
and techniques for the operation, maintenance and repair of cranes,
trucks and related equipment.
+ Use of power and hand tools
+ Accident Prevention Rules, safe work practices, Company and
governmental rules, regulations, procedures and standards,
governing operation of cranes, trucks and related equipment, and
rigging methods associated with transporting structural materials
and equipment.
