Job overview and responsibilities
The ServiceNow Data Architect role is a key position within the
United DT-Operations team. This role is responsible for
establishing data architecture standards and governance for the
Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the IT Service
Management (ITSM) platform. The data architect will ensure the
quality, accuracy, and usability of the CMDB, while also governing
processes related to ITSM data.
--- Ensures quality, accuracy, and usability of ServiceNow CMDB and
related ITSM/ITOM/ITAM data.
--- Implements data strategies and solutions in accordance with the
Common Services Data Model (CSDM) framework.
--- Sets the CMDB standards in accordance with platform and
industry best practices.
--- Defines and maintains configuration management policies,
procedures, processes, and standards.
--- Governs CMDB/ITSM data in accordance with defined policies,
procedures, processes, & standards
--- Works with stakeholders to understand and help manage CMDB
ensuring alignment with CSDM and other organizational policy and
standards (cyber, asset, etc.)
--- Collaborate with domain and discovery architects to define data
flow architecture for CMDB and related ServiceNow platform
data.
--- Collaborate with ITSM/ITOM/ITAM process owners to define data
interactions and ensure alignment with goals and strategies.
--- Defines data normalization patterns and participates in data
normalization efforts as needed across the ServiceNow platform.
--- Defines and documents data flows, models, integrations,
schemas, and dictionaries.
--- Reconcile data and conduct audits to communicate and monitor
data compliance.
--- Configure and manage data health dashboards and reports.
--- Define roadmaps to bridge the gap from the current to future
state for data models and flows.
--- Build data solutions to support critical service management
processes and business metrics.
--- Decomposes significantly complex data problems into
straight-forward solutions.
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
--- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology,
engineering, or equivalent field
--- ITIL Foundation or above certification.
--- 7+ years of relevant work experience
--- 3+ years professional hands-on experience with ServiceNow
CMDB/Common Service Data Model, data architecture, CMDB design,
administration, development, and operation.
--- Detailed knowledge of ServiceNow platform with hands-on
experience in ServiceNow modules including CMDB, ITSM, ITAM, ITOM,
Discovery, and Automation.
--- Detailed knowledge of ITSM processes and their interactions
with the CMDB.
--- Knowledge of Cloud information architecture patterns, software
development processes, and data processing methodologies.
--- Detailed knowledge of infrastructure and application components
across horizontal and vertical technology stacks - On-premises,
SaaS, Cloud, Hybrid - and their relationships to each other.
--- Experience leading the design/implementation of configuration
driven, scalable, reliable data services and data workflows.
--- Knowledge of API integration, web service calls and scripting
tools (JavaScript, Python, etc.)
--- Strong technical documentation skills (data flow diagrams, data
schema designs, policies, procedures, etc.)
--- Communication Skills - the ability to communicate verbally and
in writing with all levels of employees, both technical and
management.
--- Comfortable presenting complex, technical data topics in an
actionable manner to senior leadership.
--- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any
employer without sponsorship
--- Successful completion of interview required to meet job
qualification
--- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the
position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred
Qualifications):
--- Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or
engineering.
--- ServiceNow system administrator certification
--- Expert knowledge of data modeling, data architectures, and data
relationships.
--- Strong understanding of data architecture used to support event
processing frameworks.
--- 3+ years professional experience with data query languages (ex:
MS SQL or similar RDBMS).
--- Knowledge of other ITSM systems, CMDBs, Databases and related
platforms.
The base pay range for this role is $124,735.00 to $169,950.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on
job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience,
education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus
and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
