Tree Island Steel operates in Canada under Tree Island Industries Ltd and in the United States under Tree Island Wire (USA) Inc.Job SummaryThe ATT Operator is responsible for safely operating the ATT machine to production and quality standards. Conduct quality checks and perform machine troubleshooting both mechanically and electrically and overhead crane forklift certifiedJob Responsibilities* Must be able read and understand bills of material, provided product specifications * Set-up and safely operate the ATT machine to define production and quality standards* Duties include: Complete machine set up, cleaning and/or replacing electrodes as needed, operate butt welders, cranes and forklifts* Must be able to read and use micrometer and other required measuring tools and gauges to ensure product meets required specifications* Conduct regular product quality inspections to ensure product meets established quality standards. Tests to include, weld shear, zipper welds, and product dimensions* Performs routine maintenance and adjustments on the machine and report any malfunction of equipment to the supervisor* Assists maintenance personnel in repairing machine breakdowns and regular maintenance as required* Records all equipment stoppages in log book* Coordinate workload of ATT helpers to maximize production efficiency of packaged mesh bundles and preparing product for shipment* Must be a team player and ability to work with minimal supervision* Maintain a neat, orderly work area and established housekeeping standards * Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations and participate in safety* Able to perform medium to heavy lifting* Able to drive forklift and perform loading and unloading activities* Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Supervisor or LeadQualifications* Self-starter, able to work with little or no supervision * 2 years of manufacturing preferred experience* Experience in troubleshooting instrumentation and control system issues* Able to recognize electrical and mechanical issues with the machine* Experience in computer data entry* PC user skills* Basic understanding of automated equipment* Can demonstrate the ability to use required hand tools and testing equipment* Excellent verbal and written skills* Excellent communication skills and able read/write English* Ability to work in a fast paced environment* Ability to lead and direct the helper work force* Be flexible with schedule; Days, Swing or Grave and be able to work overtime as needed* Material handling and forklift driving experience * Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment * Bilingual preferred (English and SpanishRequirements* Overall Strength: Medium to heavy work, exerts force and/or carries objects frequently weighing up to 75+ lbs* Walking: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Sitting: Seldom except break or lunch* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Pushing/Pulling: Frequently (2/3 or more of the time)* Bending/Stooping: Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time)* Reaching: Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) extend hand and arms in any direction* Handling: Constantly (2/3 or more of the time) seize, hold, grasps, turn or otherwise work with the hands* Seeing: Constantly (2/3 or more of the time), obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance , motion, color or other characteristics of the objectsCandidates will be required to complete and pass a technical assessment.Starting rate for this position is $19.75/hour.No agencies; only short listed candidates will be contacted.
